Marlton Elks award 2018 ‘Officer of the Year’ award to ETPD Officer with community policing ties

The Elks chose Officer Christine Schmidt due to her outstanding efforts in the area of community policing.

The Marlton Elks Lodge No. 2514 has selected Evesham Township Police Department Officer Christine Schmidt as the Elks’ 2018 “Officer of the Year” award recipient.

According to officials, the Elks chose Schmidt due to her outstanding efforts in the area of community policing.

During her 18-year tenure with the Evesham Township Police Department, officials say Schmidt’s ability to connect and positively interact with the community has been “profound.”

In addition to general patrol responsibilities, Schmidt has been involved in the National CALEA Accreditation process, has served as School Resource Officer (Evans, Van Zant and DeMasi) and oversees crucial community outreach programs to include the Junior Police Academy and the Police Explorer program.

She also remains involved with the Citizen’s Police Academy, Girl Talk of Marlton, Neighborhood Watch and numerous other community-policing activities.

Officials offer their congratulations to Schmidt on this honor and thank her for her continued service to Evesham Township.
