The Gloucester County Division of Senior Services will host Senior Health and Fitness Day, a free breakfast and health fair, at Auletto Caterers in Deptford from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 14.

The fair is to give seniors in the community vital information they need to live a healthy life.

Approximately 52 vendors will be at the fair and all of them have an interest in senior health and fitness, according to Leona Mather, executive director of Senior Services.

“We do everything from eye screenings to all the information the county has available for everybody,” Mather said. “The sheriff’s office will be there, consumer affairs will be there, animal control will be, so pretty much every county office will be represented in the human services area.”

Other vendors, such as ear, nose and throat people, will be testing, and the department of health will be testing glucose and cholesterol levels.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “In honor of May as Older Americans Month, we are encouraging our seniors to learn more about healthy habits, aging and the importance of staying active.”

Freeholder Jim Jefferson, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services, said, “Free screenings will be provided during the health fair, including diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, stroke, balance, eye, glaucoma, hearing, and feet screenings. Seniors will also be able to learn more about chiropractic care and massage therapy.”

The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders would like to encourage residents to take time to recognize older Americans and what they’ve done for the community, as well as recognize the people who serve and support them.

There are two breakfast seating times, the first is at 9 a.m. and the second is at 10 a.m.

Registration is required. To reserve a seat for breakfast, contact the Division of Senior Services at (856) 384-6900.
