Evesham Police charge man in connection with alleged theft of elderly woman’s wallet

Police charged the man, age 39 of Montebello, Calif., with third-degree credit card fraud and theft. According to police, the man's current whereabouts are unknown.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On April 15, detectives with the Evesham Township Police Department identified and charged a man of Montebello, Calif., in connection with the alleged theft of an elderly woman’s wallet while she was shopping at the Home Goods Store at 215 S. Route 73 in Marlton on March 20.

Police charged the man, age 39, with third-degree credit card fraud and theft. According to police, the man’s current whereabouts are unknown.

According to police, the man was joined by a woman during the alleged theft, at which time the woman allegedly distracted the elderly victim while the man allegedly took the victim’s wallet from inside her zippered purse.

Upon allegedly stealing the victim’s wallet, police say the couple allegedly utilized two of the victim’s credit cards at a nearby Apple Store, Game Stop, Bed Bath and Beyond and Nordstrom Rack for a total loss amount of approximately $7,300
