Cherry Hill schools to receive $1.1 million increase in state aid
Cherry Hill Public Schools will likely receive a bump in state aid for the 2019–20 school year, but it won’t be quite as large as last year’s increase. State aid for the school district is expected to go up from $17.3 million to $18.4 million for 2019–20 school year. The Sun spoke with the chair of Fair Funding for Cherry Hill Public Schools last week about the group’s reaction to the figure and future plans.
Cherry Hill Township seniors treated to health and information fair
Cherry Hill Township hosted its annual Senior Information Fair at the Carman Tilelli Community Center on March 13 to provide resources to senior residents around the township. Numerous vendors were on hand to provide services to seniors in attendance. Cherry Hill’s Super Seniors, a group that hosts various activities every Wednesday, was also active in meeting those who came out to the event.
Katz JCC to hold second annual Parkinson’s Connection Awareness Walk
The Katz JCC is taking further steps to combat Parkinson’s disease. The JCC is hosting its second Parkinson’s Connection Awareness Walk on Sunday, April 7. The first one-mile fundraising walk was held last April and the proceeds allowed the JCC to provide numerous programs for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s, including nine Rock Steady Boxing classes with seven certified instructors.
Cherry Hill launches Catch Up with Council videos
Cherry Hill Township officials have started a new initiative to try and keep residents informed of what’s going on around town. Following the township council meeting on Feb. 25, Cherry Hill Township posted its first-ever Catch Up with Council video on its Facebook page. The five-minute video recapped the council meeting and also talked about other events going on around Cherry Hill.
Cherry Hill Police trying to identify man who stole items from unlocked vehicles
Cherry Hill Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who is believed to have stole items from multiple cars during the overnight hours of March 6 and March 7. Police say the suspect conducted the thefts in several unlocked cars in the Cherry Valley and Kingscroft neighborhoods of the township. Police are reminding residents to always lock their vehicles and secure their belongings.
