Seneca Chambers Singers perform at Westminster Choir College

On Feb. 22 the Seneca Chamber Singers performed at Westminster Choir College in Princeton for the school’s annual Choir Invitational.

“Only six or seven schools were invited to attend, so it was an honor to be there,” explained Seneca junior Dolores Mancinelli. “When we arrived we were introduced to the professors and professionals that work there. Each school then performed for everyone attending, and was critiqued by a professor or instructor from Westminster.”

Mancinelli explained that the trip was a valuable learning experience for Seneca’s singers. “Hearing the variety of what everyone was doing was amazing and inspirational. Each school had their own style and approach, and with each performance and critique we gained something new we can use to inspire our own music.”

According to their website, “Westminster Choir College of Rider University is one of the world’s leading schools of Music.” The school is a “division of the Westminster College of the Arts. Westminster Choir College is a residential college of music located on a 23-acre campus in the heart of Princeton, New Jersey. At Westminster’s core is a four-year music college and graduate school that prepares men and women for careers as performers and as music leaders in schools, universities, churches and professional and community organizations.”

“Our singers did a great job. It was an awesome learning experience for everyone,” noted Seneca teacher and conductor Robb DiLauro.

The following Seneca students attended: Oliver Baumeyer, Rachel Bland, Hannah Butler, Sabrina Capoli, Jessica Cherubino, Sophia Cino, Jillian Connelly, Kyle Davis, Emma DiLauro, Jack DiLauro, Ethan Garrett, Meghan Hatley, James Hoffman, Bruce Kirschbaum, Dolores Mancinelli, Grace Matthiessen, PJ McElroy, Rylee Morrison, Stephen Oliva, Jacob Walters and Jessica Waters.
