N.J. Transit says Atlantic City Rail Line will be operational by late May

Cherry Hill residents received some news on Wednesday night at the Carman Tilelli Community Center as NJ Transit officials announced the Atlantic City Rail Line would re-open by the start of the Memorial Day weekend. The rail line, which has been shut down since September, includes a station in Cherry Hill near Garden State Pavilions. Transit officials also explained the reasoning behind the delayed re-opening of the rail line at the meeting.

Cherry Hill BOE conducts lengthy discussion on bond referendum committee

A lengthy Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night included a number of discussions, one of which was on the board’s planned ad-hoc committee to analyze data on a potential bond referendum. Board members discussed and debated numerous aspects of the committee, including the number of members, the purpose of the committee and whether it should include an independent facilitator.

Township, developers reach agreement on new medical office construction

A resolution approving a developer’s agreement for the construction of new medical offices at Route 70 and Wexford Drive was approved at Monday night’s Cherry Hill Township Council meeting. Part of the resolution included a stipulation to cut down on possible traffic in the neighboring Wexford Leas development. The township is hoping to have traffic flow in and out via Route 70 and not cut through neighboring residential streets.

New team, same results: Cherry Hill East ice hockey wins third straight championship

Cherry Hill East ice hockey’s third straight championship, which the club won on Feb. 22, was nothing like the previous two. The Cougars won the title with a mostly new varsity roster after graduating most of the 2018 championship team. Cherry Hill East also won the title after finishing in third place in the regular season and swept through the playoffs for the first time in their three-year run.

February Athlete of the Month: Justina Lam moving up the fencing rankings

At the age of 15, Justina Lam has become one of the top up-and-coming female fencers in the entire country. Competing at the 2019 Junior Olympic National Championships in Denver Feb. 15 through Feb. 17, Lam won two medals. Lam was a silver medalist in the cadet women’s foil and a bronze medal in the junior women’s foil. Lam now ranks in the top-10 in the country in the cadet women’s foil rankings.
