CHAACA announces winners of Black History Month contest

The winners were honored at Tuesday night’s Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting.

The Cherry Hill African American Civic Association is hosting a reception for all participants in its 2019 Black History Month Essay, Poster and Video Contest on Wednesday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Cherry Hill Public Library.

Participants, their families, Cherry Hill Public School staff and judges are all invited to attend this event. It will be held in the lower level of the library. Winners were also honored at the Feb. 26 Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting.

This year’s contest winners include:

Kindergarten-first grade winners:

First place — Dylan Tulino, Knight Elementary

Second place — Carter Gillett-Spio, Knight Elementary

Second-third grade winners:

First place — Xavier Austin, Woodcrest Elementary

Second place — Nnemdi Tarrant, Kilmer Elementary

Third place — Harmony Tulino, Knight Elementary

Fourth-fifth grade winners:

First place — Landon Schuster, Bret Harte Elementary

Second place — Nathan Dekerlegand, Sharp Elementary

Third place — Joy Kam, Sharp Elementary

Sixth-seventh grade winners:

First place — Brandon Dekerlegand, Rosa International Middle School

Second place — Kyle Lehrfeld, Rosa International Middle School

Third place — Giorgio Abdalla, Rosa International Middle School

Eighth-ninth grade winners:

First place (tied) — Jaimin Nam, Rosa International Middle School

First place (tied) — Melissa Vital, Rosa International Middle School

Third place (tied) — Youjin Park, Cherry Hill High School East

Third place (tied) — Abby Yu, Rosa International Middle School

10th-11th grade winners:

First place — Joshua Gray, Cherry Hill High School East

12th grade winners:

First place — Joshua McCauley, Cherry Hill High School West

Second place — Sierra Smith, Cherry Hill High School West
