Freshman Spartans championship team honored with proclamation

The Deptford six- and seven-year old Spartans freshman football team was presented with a proclamation and certificates by the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Feb. 6, in recognition for its undefeated 2018 South Jersey United Football League Championship.

“The Deptford Spartans had an amazing season,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said in a press release. “We are proud of their determination and teamwork.”

Added Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco: “Along with their undefeated status in the League Championship, the team also won the title of 2018 World Youth National Champions at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. These boys have done great things and will continue to grow and learn and we look forward to their bright future.”
