Cherry Hill West wrestling advances with win over Central Regional

The Lions will take on Kingsway Regional High School in Wednesday’s South Jersey Group 4 semifinals.

Cherry Hill High School West wrestling kicked off the South Jersey Group 4 tournament with a victory at home on Monday night. The Lions defeated Central Regional High School, 60–18, to advance to the sectional semifinals.

The Lions came away with victories in 11 of the 14 matchups on Monday evening. A pin from John Howe at 138 pounds started a run where Cherry Hill West won six matches in a row and sealed the win. Jaden Reyes, RJ Silver-Cohen, Xavier Barker, Dominic Ummarino, and Shane Thompson also won with pins on Monday night.

The №4 seeded Lions will face a big challenge on the road in the South Jersey Group 4 semifinals Wednesday evening. Cherry Hill West will visit №1 seed Kingsway Regional High School for a chance to advance to the sectional finals on Friday. Wednesday’s match will begin at 6 p.m.

In other playoff news, Cherry Hill West boys swimming will start their postseason Tuesday afternoon with a first round dual meet against against Kingsway at GCIT. The meet will begin at 5:15 p.m.
