Locals to lobby lawmakers to keep Evesham’s Teddy Bear Academy daycare open

Now the fight moves to Trenton for the parents, friends and staff of Teddy Bear Academy daycare. Teddy Bear’s supporters gathered in the library of Marlton Middle School this week to discuss strategies for gaining the support of state legislators to advance recently introduced legislation that would allow Teddy Bear Academy and daycares like it across the state to remain in operation.

Marlton girl to perform in production of ‘Oliver’ to raise funds for lung cancer research

Marlton resident Naomi Serrano, an eighth grade student at DeMasi Middle School, will soon perform in a production of “Oliver” to help raise funds for the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. McMagical Productions will be performing “Oliver” at the Ritz Theatre in Haddon Township on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 at 8 p.m., and again on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Evesham Police arrest wanted man allegedly possessing 16 bags of heroin

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Jan. 26 at 12:30 a.m, an officer patrolling the Evesham Township Police Department’s Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) Zone observed a vehicle being operated in an allegedly careless manner. During the officer’s investigation, police say he allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in plan-view. The driver was arrested and a subsequent search resulted in the alleged discovery of 16 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

State Sen. Dawn Addiego switches from Republican to Democrat

It’s the “dawn” of a new day for state Sen. Dawn Addiego (NJ-8), who has decided to go from serving as a Republican to a serving as Democrat. The news came in the form of a surprise announcement Monday afternoon from the longtime Evesham resident and Eighth Legislative District senator. Addiego’s switch now brings the Democrats’ control of the state Senate to 26 seats, versus Republicans’ 14 seats — the lowest number for New Jersey’s GOP in decades.

Marlton native Jonavin Webb is ready for a fight

“What are you fighting for?” is emblazoned across the back of Jonavin Webb’s hoodie. The phrase isn’t just targeted toward the Marlton-born fighter, he poses that question to everyone. Webb is a professional fighter in the Cage Fury Fighting Championship. The professional fighter’s next fight is set for Feb. 16 in Atlantic City. An impressive showing could mean a promotion to the UFC.
