Ohio native and longtime Haddonfield resident dies at 90
David Beaman Potts, a former resident of Haddonfield, passed away at age 90, on Jan. 19. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Lovell) for 66 years, loving father to David B. Potts, Jr., Barbara A. Potts, William J. Potts and dear brother of Mary Alice Love, devoted to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
After graduating high school in Gibsonburg, Oh., Dave spent two years in the Army, followed by four years at Springfield College in Massachusetts. He was then employed for 20 years by the YMCA in several locations. He also worked for Health and Welfare Council and then Family Service of Philadelphia.
David was active the Haddonfield community, volunteering with the YMCA and Interfaith Caregivers for many years. He was also a member of the Y’s Men’s Club, American Legion Post №38 and the Haddonfield United Methodist Church. He also played the saxophone and clarinet in the Haddonfield Pick-Up Band as well as The Brass & The Beat dance band.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Ave., Haddonfield. Services to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Interfaith Caregivers, P.O. Box 186, Haddonfield, N.J. 08033.
