Bidding a fond farewell to retired K-9 Kita

Press release from Monroe Township Police Department

Special to The Sun: K-9 Kita

The Monroe Township Police Department announced the passing of retired K-9 officer Kita, who passed on Jan. 7.

Kita served faithfully with her handler, Capt. Stephen Boyd for six years. Kita was Monroe’s first female K-9 and served as a patrol dog from 2009–2015. She left the force in the summer of 2015 and spent her retirement days with Boyd and his family.

Kita was Boyd’s third police K-9 during his 20 years with the unit.

The officers and staff of the Monroe Township Police Department would like to extend condolences to Boyd and his family during these times.
