Cherry Hill BOE engages in lengthy discussion on future bond referendum

For the first time since the defeat of last December’s bond referendum, the Cherry Hill Board of Education engaged in a lengthy discussion of how to move forward at its meeting on Tuesday. The board discussed administration’s recommendation of going back out for a new referendum in September of 2020. Also discussed was how the board was going to gather input from all of its members as well as from the community.

A League of Their Own

Nearly a dozen Cherry Hill High School West girls jumped at the chance of a new opportunity this winter. The girls are wrestling in the first season in which girls wrestling is a NJSIAA-sanctioned sport. Even though Cherry Hill West, like most schools, doesn’t have enough wrestlers for a full-time dual meet team, the girls are wrestling some other girls teams and in individual tournaments with the hopes of making an impression in the first-ever regional and state tournaments later this season.

Taken by cancer, Lisa Semple leaves behind a legacy of beauty

This month, the Cherry Hill Public Library is honoring a resident who succumbed to breast cancer on Dec. 23. Lisa Semple’s artwork is on display throughout January as part of the library’s art gallery. The opening reception for Semple’s gallery was held on Jan. 5, less than two weeks after she passed away. Numerous family members and friends attended the opening reception.

The Art Link provides a place of relaxation at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital

A unique feature at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital is bringing an aura of relaxation to patients, visitors and employees. The Art Link Gallery at Jefferson features dozens of pieces of artwork from numerous artists from across the area. Carol Gartzman Gooberman, an artist from Haddonfield, acts as the curator for the gallery and has reached out to numerous artists from around the region to contribute work.

Pair re-elected to posts at Cherry Hill Township Council reorganization

There are no changes on Cherry Hill Township Council this year. Council held its annual reorganization meeting on Monday night. David Fleisher was chosen to remain president of council and Sara Lipsett will remain vice president, the same as in previous years. Mayor Chuck Cahn and council members also shared their thoughts on the upcoming year.
