The church visited the Voorhees Care and Rehab Center on Dec. 23 to celebrate the holidays with seniors at the facility.

On Dec. 23, members of the Cherry Hill Chinese Christian Church arrived at the Voorhees Care and Rehab Center. They brought music instruments, traditional Christmas carols, holiday crafts and words of faith to celebrate the holiday with the local seniors.
The group was led into the activity room where the seniors surrounded the tables, many in wheelchairs. From violinists to clarinetists, the church had brought a small-scale orchestra performance of traditional Christmas music, creating a joyful Christmas spirit. Along with cheerful music, words from the Bible that spoke about the true meaning of the Christmas season were shared. Some of the seniors hummed along and clapped with the music, while others teared up hearing about God’s salvation and everlasting love.
“I was happy to perform in front of a group of seniors during Christmas time. It was a blessing to do so,” said Larina Fu, one of the youth orchestra players.
The church visitors also brought hand made crafts and holiday greeting cards. They hung up the festive snowflakes in the elders’ rooms to remind them of this wonderful wintry season. Holiday greeting cards were presented to the seniors, bringing them holiday’s best wishes.
The joyous Christmas music and the lively conversations with the elders fostered a heart-warming holiday atmosphere, filling every corner of the activity room.
“It’s a blessing to serve those seniors with music and share the joyful moments of having gospel during this holiday season,” Andrew Lee, one of the church leaders participating in this event, said.
These wonderful memories with the elders of our community will be cherished throughout this holiday season.
