Lizzie Haddon student Berman shows off his electronic chops
Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School fourth-grade student Harrison Berman won the Fresh Films MILK IT! Video Competition that invited students aged 8- 16 to highlight the things that make them awesome in under three minutes through a video judged on originality and passion.
In his winning entry, Harrison’s talents were on full display. The judges noted, “We loved how he creatively showcased his passion for magic, while noting that milk is a great source of protein and calcium that helps him get through the day.”
Harrison is one of two winners chosen for his age group and was rewarded with a GoPro Hero 7 camera and accessories and $500 in cash. As part of his prize, Harrison was also asked to nominate a teacher to receive a $500 grant from Fresh Films. He chose Debbie Adams, his third-grade teacher. “Truly, if it were not for Mrs. Adams, who told Harrison about the film contest, he would have never known,” said Robert Berman, Harrison’s father. “She is an awesome teacher tuned in to technology.”
In addition to film competitions, Fresh Films runs year-round programs for students and educators, including bringing youth on set to film original TV shows, documentaries and feature films, and hosting one-day filmmaking camps throughout the country. Fresh Films also offers grant opportunities for educators that are open on a rolling basis and will continue into 2019.
