Think green this Christmas

If your Christmas lights don’t survive the holidays resist the urge to toss them in the trash

With everything on your mind around the holidays it can be hard to think green when the inevitable Christmas trash heap starts to pile up. Christmas lights in particular are notoriously erratic and often end up on the same heap as everything else when they stop working. This year keep in mind there are other options available that are a little more eco friendly than the trash can.

Burlington County residents have an easy solution for disposing of old, non functioning Christmas lights at the county’s Resource Recovery Complex at 22000 Columbus Road in Florence, NJ.

Residents are asked to place strands of lights in clear bags or cardboard boxes when delivering them to the Complex. If you are gifted any new electronics this year you can also take your old televisions, computers, monitors, keyboards, modems, printers, fax machines, VCRs and DVD players to the County Resource Recovery Complex as well.

Disposal is free to Burlington County residents. Christmas lights can be taken to the electronics recycling area Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 to 11:30 a.m.
