The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of January. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call 856–415–2222 or email [email protected] to register. You must be 18 years or older to attend.
“Budgeting 101:” Nancy Howard, accounting and human resource management professional, will provide information on creating and utilizing a budget to stay on track and achieve your financial goals. She will discuss fixed and variable spending, essential and non-essential purchases, short-term and long-term savings and the use of credit in our lives. A general overview of insurance to protect your income and minimize unexpected expenses will also be included. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Jan. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Intermediate Computers:” Amy Charlesworth, case manager assistant for People in Transition, will take your basic computer skills to the next level with her 40-hour workshop covering intermediate Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. The cost of the workshop is $40 for displaced homemakers and $100 for all other attendees. This workshop will be held on Fridays, Jan. 11 through March 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“Laws of Separation and Divorce:” Join family law attorney Jeffrey Kerstetter for an introduction to the laws governing separation and divorce. Court proceedings, timing, grounds for divorce and setting goals will be covered. He will also discuss the issues of equitable distribution, custody, visitation, alimony and other concerns. This workshop will be held on Jan. 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“Making that New Year’s Resolution Stick:” We all know that the only thing more common than setting New Year’s resolutions is forgetting about them by February. Join Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, certified professional life coach, to learn what it takes to make your 2019 resolutions into a reality. This workshop is sponsored by the United Way of Gloucester County and will be held on Jan. 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
