Oh, Christmas Tree: Deptford rings in season with tree lighting

The Christmas season officially got underway in Deptford Township on Friday night at the township’s Recreation Center.

The annual tree lighting ceremony took place from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Mayor Paul Medany and his “holiday” council (which included Buddy the Elf and the Grinch) celebrating the season with more than one hundred residents.

There were refreshments, a projection TV screen showing holiday specials, photos with Santa Claus, and Christmas carols sung by the Deptford Township High School choir.
