Religious events for the holidays

Several places of worship in town are hosting open events for families.

These places of worship are hosting several holiday-related events throughout the township to celebrate the season. All are open to the public.

On Dec. 15, the Bethel United Methodist Church (481 Delsea Drive, Sewell) is hosting a Live Nativity event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join to watch as church members and volunteers act out angels, shepherds as they await the birth of Jesus Christ. Refreshments are sold indoors to benefit the church. Homemade cookies are free. Shows are done every hour and it is recommended to dress warmly.

The First Baptist of Mantua (109 Lincoln Ave.) is hosting two events: On Dec. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. Santa will stop by for all of the boys and girls to meet and talk to. He will have a special treat for everyone and the church is providing light refreshments. Cameras welcome. On Dec. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Christmas carols will be sung featuring the Wallis Maricle Worship Singers. Cookies and a service will follow the carols. On Dec. 5, the Chabad Jewish Center of Gloucester County is hosting a Bat Mitzvah Club Chanukah Party starting at 7 p.m. They will welcome in the newest members on the Festival of Light and activities will be followed by a mother-daughter Menorah lighting and candle-making activity. A donation of $15 is suggested.

On Dec. 14, the Fellowship Bible Church is hosting a free “All is Bright” Christmas event starting at 7 p.m. Popular Christmas songs will be sung and a service will take place. The event is open to all and is family-friendly. For more information, visit www.AboutFBC.org.

On Dec. 15, the Church of Incarnation is hosting a “Cookie Swap and Chili Lunch” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is kid-friendly.

A number of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and other holiday services will occur around town and are open to the public to attend. Those wishing to attend should contact the place of worship for details on the timing of their services.
