Obituary: Eugene J. Haag, MD

Long-time Haddonfield resident and practitioner passed away during the holiday weekend

docEugene J. Haag, MD passed away on Nov. 25, age 86. He was a resident of The Evergreens in Moorestown and Bolton Landing, N.Y.

Beloved husband of the late Carolyn Haag (nee Joyce), loving father to Betsy Manderino of Rostraver Township, Pa. and Gene Haag of Haddonfield. Devoted grandfather of Lisa and Corrine Manderino, dear brother of George Haag and the late Elizabeth Bonney Brian, loving son of the late Eugene G. Haag and Emma Smith Haag. He was the uncle of five nieces and nephews.

Gene graduated from Ursinus College and Temple University Medical School, and proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Norfolk. A longtime resident of Haddonfield, he practiced obstetrics and gynecology there for almost four decades. He actively served on many boards while affiliated with West Jersey Hospital during that time. He belonged to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.

Gene cherished time at his vacation home on Lake George, N.Y., and was a member of Tavistock Country Club, rarely missing a Wednesday round with his friends.

Friends and family are invited to Dr. Haag’s Service, Friday, Nov. 30, 10:30 a.m., at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Avenue, Haddonfield. Interment will follow at Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his honor to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 204 Wayne Avenue, Haddonfield.
