Holidays come to HOPE Church

From a tree lighting Nov. 24 to Christmas Eve services, church plans holiday events

There are so many things about the Christmas season that can leave us feeling stressed out and out of sorts. If you want to change your focus this year, and bring the true meaning of Christmas into clearer view, check out some of the activities going on at HOPE Church.

On Saturday, Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m., HOPE Church-Voorhees campus will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting where the entire community is invited to come out for some good, old-fashioned Christmas fun. Be sure to bring the whole family, friends and neighbors to this free holiday celebration. There will be an outdoor stage filled with performers, booths with fun children’s activities, hot chocolate and cider, popcorn and cookies and even that bearded guy in the red suit. The church will be giving away a $100 Visa gift card! HOPE Church-Voorhees campus is located at 700 Cooper Road, Voorhees.

The Kids of HOPE invite all to their performance of “Straight Outta Bethlehem” on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m., Voorhees campus. This re-telling of the Christmas story shares the eyewitness account of some orphans living at the Inn of Bethlehem who are present at our Savior’s birth. Singing animals, disco angels, and 70s shepherds round out this great cast of characters. Nursery is available. All are welcome!

December can be a very hectic time of year: concerts, office parties, tree lightings, special church events. Most of these activities are good and enjoyable, but sometimes all that busyness can get in the way of experiencing the full JOY of the season. Make room for Advent Reflections on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 8 p.m., Voorhees campus, for a time of worship and reflection on the Kingdom of God. Nursery is available. The Family Ministry will offer programs for children from age 3 to fifth grade during this time as well.

On Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Voorhees campus, HOPE’s Worship Arts Ministry presents “The Big Star Theory.” Join for an entertaining afternoon featuring our adult and youth choirs, HOPE Players, and members of HOPE’s praise band. “The Big Star Theory” is an original script that follows four lovable nerds as they try to figure out why there is a bright star in the sky. Their journey leads them to Jerusalem and an encounter with a nasty King Herod. As they continue on to Bethlehem they bring gifts for a newborn baby only to discover that this baby is the most perfect gift of all. All are welcome and nursery care will be available.

HOPE Church in Voorhees will hold its very popular, kid-friendly, Family Christmas Candlelight Services on Sunday, Dec. 23, at 5 p.m. and again on Monday, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. This service is specifically designed with children and families in mind.

There will be three Christmas Candlelight Services geared for adults: Sunday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. and then again on Monday, Dec. 24 at 5 and 7 p.m. Childcare is available.

There will be one Sunday morning worship service on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at both campuses, Voorhees and Mt. Laurel.

HOPE Church in Mt. Laurel, 100 Mount Laurel Road, Mt. Laurel, will hold its first Christmas Eve service on Monday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.
