Letters from the Library

Check out what activites are being offered at the Pinelands Branch Library this month.

Oh, the leaves, the leaves! Just when I have raked the whole yard, there is a huge wind and there are more of them on the ground. Then it is back to the beginning. Be sure to check with the township to learn when they will be in your neighborhood to collect the leaves.

Did you know we offer Interlibrary Loans? ILL is a network that allows libraries to share their circulating collections. Pinelands Library as a member of the Burlington County Library System belongs to this network of participating libraries in the state and across the country. This allows us to obtain materials from any library willing to lend them. There is a nominal fee required and may take as long as two weeks to fulfill.

We also offer Learning Express. This online learning platform has helped millions of people prepare for a wide range of career-oriented licensing and certification exams in health care, education, civil service, homeland security and much more. Access interactive tutorials to help improve basic skills in reading, writing and math, as well as prepare for high-stake tests such as the GED, ACT, and SAT.

Don’t forget to join us on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. for a fun, interactive performance by local magician Jake Strong. Strong, at only 17 years old, has been interested in magic all his life and performed at hundreds of children’s shows across the country stressing the concepts of respecting one another with astonishing results. Come and be amazed!

For our younger guests we will still offer a fall leaf wreath make-n-take on Nov. 19 through Nov. 21. Stop by the library for a fun autumn craft. Available while supplies last.

Our adult “Make a Fall Leaf Wreath” class on Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. is currently full. If you would like to be placed on the wait list, please call the library.

Gentle Yoga for Adults will be on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. This beginner class is perfect for those with very stiff joints of minor injuries. There will be lots of stretching and breathing exercises designed for relaxation. Please bring a yoga mat or large towel. Registration is currently open.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and Happy Thanksgiving!
