EMS swearing-in

On Nov. 2, I was pleased to swear-in Captain Shawn Steen, Captain Frank Battaglia, and Lieutenant Ken Smith to the Washington Township Ambulance Association. There to help me promote these gentlemen were EMS Chief, Jim Connor, Council President Joe Perry, Council Vice President Sean Longfellow, along with the family members of the inductees. As always, I am honored to be a part of these ceremonies. I am proud of the dedication and resilience that these three gentlemen have shown. Washington Township is fortunate to have such compassionate and committed individuals who work every day to provide the best emergency services to residents of Washington Township. I wish them all the best and continued success as members of the Washington Township Ambulance Association.

Washington Township Rotary’s 50th anniversary

On Nov. 2, I was honored to attend the 50th Anniversary celebration for the Washington Township Rotary Club. Perry and Longfellow joined me at this milestone event. Rotary members, their families, friends, and other dignitaries all shared in great food, fun, music and dancing. Special recognition was given to rotarians who have contributed significantly to local and global projects, as well as fun awards, and years of service. I would like to thank all of the Rotary members who organized and coordinated this event.

Upgrades to the Washington Township Senior Citizen Center

Washington Township Council members and I would like to acknowledge and show their appreciation to Public Works Director Ernie D’Orazio for his initiatives to improve the Washington Township Senior Citizen Center. Ernie recommended we fix exterior areas of damaged walls, remove overgrown trees and shrubs, and repaint and replace areas of the roof of the Washington Township Senior Citizen Center. The new roof will be installed within the next week.

In addition to the Senior Center, new roofs are being installed on the CAC (Community Activity Center) building and other buildings in Washington Lake Park. I presented this initiative for the 2018 capital budget and all members of council voted unanimously to approve this project for 2018.

Joe Micucci Football Complex gets paved

I am happy to announce another recent capital improvement voted on unanimously by all members of the Washington Township Council. Over the past week and a half, crews have worked tirelessly to pave the Joe Micucci Youth Football Complex parking lot located off of East Holly Ave.

We were approached earlier this year by multiple residents to consider this project. It will show Washington Township’s commitment to youth sports and recreation. Line striping will be completed over the next week. My administration and I are excited to continue to partner with members of council to improve the township.
