Monroe Township Library to host canned food drive

Patrons can donate canned food to erase debt

The Monroe Township Library is hosting a canned food drive from Nov. 13 to 17 during their hours of operation.

Cardholders with overdue fines can bring in cans to erase debt. For every can of food brought in a dollar will be erased from their debt.

“We are encouraging patrons to bring in canned goods to benefit the community,” Librarian Samantha Snyder said. “For each can donated the library will forgive $1 of fines for overdue library material. Patrons can be forgiven for their fines and feel good about making a donation to local families in need.”

The can donations do not cover lost books.

The library will only accept non-expired canned foods as donations.

The donated cans will be delivered to the Monroe Township Food Pantry at the end of the can drive.
