Washington Township Police K-9 Unit visits OVMS Paws for Action Club

Special to The Sun: Washington Township Police Officers Jeff Kalber, Kris Hice, Mark Allen and Bob McGovern stopped Orchard Valley Middle School to visit with the Paws for Action Club members and to share information and a demonstration on the police department’s K-9 program.

Members of the Orchard Valley Middle School Paws for Action Club enjoyed a recent visit and demonstration from the Washington Township Police Department’s K-9 unit. Officers Jeff Kalber, Kris Hice, Mark Allen and Bob McGovern and their dogs stopped by to share information on how they serve the community and to showcase the canines in action.

The Washington Township Police Department K-9 Program was implemented in 2006 to assist the community and officers alike. K-9 patrol has been utilized for thousands of years in the law enforcement and military communities and has proven repeatedly to be an extremely effective tool for assisting in numerous types of investigations.
