Freeholder Dan Christy honored by NAACP

On Sunday, Oct. 21 Freeholder Dan Christy was honored as a recipient of the President’s Award at the Gloucester County NAACP Black and White Gala Game Changers Award Ceremony.

The NAACP Black and White Gala honors and recognizes those who have clearly demonstrated a commitment to their community in a variety of different ways including educational, entrepreneurial, community service, civil rights, law enforcement, medical, faith-based, youth-based, veterans and armed services, and public policy.

Christy serves as Liaison to Department of Buildings and Government Services, which includes the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, the Correctional Services, Housing Authority and Probation Office among others.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Freeholder Christy is a person of integrity and service and we are proud of him for receiving this recognition from the NAACP. He works quietly is never one to seek the limelight and is deserving of this award.”

Freeholder Christy said, “It is an honor to be presented with this prestigious award. The Gloucester County NAACP is a respected organization and I am humbled to be in the company of other fine award recipients. The work that I do on behalf of the county is my way of giving back to our community and to be acknowledged is really overwhelming and I am grateful.”

All those presented with awards, including Christy, will be featured in the NAACP’s program booklet and all additional media outlets as a “Game Changer.”
