Mayor’s Message: Moozie’s Play Cafe, fire prevention night and food truck & music festival

The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli

Special to The Sun: Mayor Joann Gattinelli and Council President Joe Perry with the Phillie Phanatic at the fire prevention night on Oct. 17

Moozie’s Play Café hosts chamber breakfast

On Oct. 16, Council President Joe Perry and I attended the Washington Township Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Moozie’s Play Café. Owners Fred and Aimee Kirvan were happy to give us a tour of the café while explaining some new expansion plans they are working on. Moozie’s Play Café is not only a fun learning and play environment for children, but Fred and Aimee have added a section for parents and guardians to relax and converse while being able to observe their children at play. I wish Aimee and Fred continued success in Washington Township.

Washington Township Fire Prevention Halloween Event

On Oct. 17, Fire Chief Patrick Dolgos and the rest of the Washington Township Fire Department hosted its Halloween Fire Prevention Night. There were several rides, a sprinkler demonstration, multiple fire demonstrations, firehouse tours and first responder vehicles for all attendees to enjoy. I was joined by business administrator Jason Gonter, Perry, Council Vice President Sean Longfellow, and Councilwoman Angela Donato. Gonter was presented with a Community Recognition Award for his swift action in saving an individual from a car fire earlier this year. I would like to thank Chief Dolgos and the rest of the fire department for hosting and organizing this event.

Food Truck & Music Festival

On Oct. 20, Washington Township hosted our Second Annual Food Truck and Music Festival in Washington Lake Park. There was delicious food from the food trucks along with live music for residents to enjoy. Perry, Longfellow, and Donato all attended this event. We certainly look forward to next year’s food truck and music festival. I would like to thank our event coordinator Lisa Collins along with the rest of our park staff for helping to make this event a great success.

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at mayorgattinelli@twp.washington.nj.us.
