Obituary: Nicholas Settanni

DRPA architect, Texas A&M graduate passed away on Oct. 18

Nicholas Settanni passed away on Oct. 18, age 82. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Moffa), loving father of Robert Settanni of Haddonfield, Lisa Guillet (Matthew) of Sayville, NY, Andrea Kearney (Jeffrey) of Solebury Township, Pa. and Paula Settanni of Haddonfield. Cherished grandfather of Luke Settanni, Noah Guillet and Sarah, Ryan & Evan Kearney, and dear brother of Delia Fugaro (Anthony) of Media, Pa.

Mr. Settanni graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Architecture and from the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters of City Planning. He was an engineering planner and architect at the Delaware River Port Authority for over 32 years. After retiring, he worked with the architecture firm of Lammey & Giorgio in Haddon Twp., NJ. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and American Institute of Certified Planners. He also served on the Board of Directors for Cordamore Inc. and was a former president of the Haddonfield Civic Association.

Mr. Settanni had a kind heart and was always ready to help others, whether family, friend or stranger. With his artistic talent and creative and thoughtful mind, he brought a great attention to detail, stellar craftsmanship and a sense of humor to all that he did. Even with his vast knowledge, he loved to continue learning about new things and had the ability to speak on any topic. As a true Aggie, he enjoyed trips to Texas to visit friends, reading, gardening, the seashore and spending time with his grandchildren. He served as a mentor to many and touched countless lives. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Settanni’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Avenue, Haddonfield. All are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King RC Church 200 Windsor Avenue, Haddonfield. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum, Cherry Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Settanni may be made to Crescent Hill Academy, 7512 N. Kresson Blvd., Pennsauken, NJ 08110.
