Cinnaminson Township observes‘Youth in Government Day’ today

Cinnaminson Township Committee teams up with schools to introduce students to local government.

Cinnaminson Township Mayor Donald Brauckmann and members of Cinnaminson Township Committee, in conjunction with the Cinnaminson School District, are sponsoring “Youth in Government Day” on Monday, Oct. 15. Throughout the day, Cinnaminson Middle School students will be touring Township facilities, meeting Township officials and learning about how Township Committee meetings are planned and coordinated. The students will then serve in the roles of the Township Committee members and Township Administrator at the Township Committee meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Township Committee Liaison to Administration Stephanie Kravil stated, “Youth in Government Day is an important collaborative effort with the Cinnaminson School District which provides students a unique opportunity to learn about how municipal government works and reinforces the importance of civic engagement within ourcommunity.” Mayor Donald Brauckmann added, “Youth in Government Day is another fine example of Cinnaminson Township and the Cinnaminson School District working together to provide unique programs for the youth in our community and I look forward to working with our school district on these types of positive programs in the future.”

Youth in Government Day is a program designed to provide students with firsthand knowledge of how municipal government plays an important role in their lives and provides an opportunity for students to actively engage in the legislative process. The goal of the program is to develop awareness of how Cinnaminson Township functions and to assist students in becoming well informed and active citizens.
