Police are commending Sgt. Bernard Davis for his role in preventing an early morning robbery at the Promenade at Sagemore shopping center.

The Evesham Township Police Department (ETPD) has announced Sgt. Bernard Davis as the department’s “Officer of the Month” for September 2018.
Police say Davis has been a member of the Evesham Township Police Department for 18 years and is being commended for his investigative skills and commitment to making the township a safer place.
On Sept. 14, at 3:18 a.m., police say Davis was patrolling inside the department’s Data Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) Zone.
According to police, DDACTS integrates location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources.
At that time, Davis conducted a business check in the Promenade Shopping Center, located at 500 S. Route 73.
During that check, police say he observed three males on the property, dressed in all black clothing and wearing rubber gloves.
Once the males observed the Davis, police say the males fled on foot.
Officials say additional ETPD officers responded and established a perimeter in the area the males were observed running.
According to police, “outstanding” police work by Davis and swift action and response from all officers led to the apprehension of the three males, and prevented burglaries to any of the Promenade stores.
Once in custody, police say officers located the vehicle the three males utilized to drive from New York to Evesham Township. According to police, inside the stolen vehicle officers recovered burglary tools and drugs.
