Rowan Orchestra premieres new work by faculty member Roberto Pace

The debut of a new work by faculty member Roberto Pace is the centerpiece of Rowan University Orchestra’s concert on Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. in Pfleeger Concert Hall on the Glassboro campus.

Under the direction of Salvatore Scarpa, the orchestra premieres Pace’s “Memory, Prayer, and Celebration.” The program also features Beethoven’s “Symphony №8 in F Major” and Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite.”

Pace, a member of the Department of Music faculty at Rowan, is a respected composer, music director, pianist and educator. He has created work for the concert stage as well as for dance and theatrical productions; his compositions have been performed throughout the United States and around the world. He has written commissions for the canonization of Padre Pio, the Viola Society of Philadelphia, the American Opera Project, and the Settlement Music School Youth Choir, among others.

Pfleeger Concert Hall is located in Wilson Hall at Rowan University, 201 Mullica Hill Road in Glassboro. Tickets are $10, general admission; and $5, seniors/non-Rowan students/alumni/military.
