Gloucester Township Police arrest alleged package thief

7-month-long investigation concludes after detective recognized suspect’s vehicle in public

On Feb. 13 at approximately 5:47 P.M., the Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) responded to the 300 Block of Almonesson Road, Blackwood for a subject who stole a delivered package from their front door steps. The theft, including the accused motor vehicle, was captured on the victim’s Ring doorbell surveillance camera. The case was assigned to the GTPD Investigations Bureau Criminal Investigations Unit.

On Sept. 16, a GTPD detective on a case had spotted what appeared to be the suspect vehicle in the area of Almonesson Road and additional information was recorded for a follow up. On Sept. 18, the suspect was successfully connected as the perpetrator, arrested and charged for the theft. He was later released on a summons in accordance with bail reform.

Successfully solving this crime and closing the case over 7 months later is another example of the tenacity and commitment of the GTPD to enjoy its service to our community.
