Blessings of the Animals returns to Trinity Episcopal

The family event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 7.

A “Blessing of the Animals” family event will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Moorestown. The church is located at 207 West Main Street at the intersection of Main and Church Streets. All pets (leashed or in carriers) and their people are welcome at this celebration.

“Pets are a very important part of our lives, and of God’s life,” said Mother Emily Mellott, rector of Trinity. “Through our relationships with our pets, we notice the wonders of a diverse creation, learn about care and responsibility for the world we share, and deepen our ability to love and be loved. These are all things that help us grow spiritually, no matter what faith you practice.”

Each October, the church celebrates Saint Francis of Assisi, known as the patron saint of animals and the natural world — a perfect occasion to celebrate the pets who share our lives.

Representatives of MatchDog Rescue, a new and personal canine rescue community in South Jersey based out of Moorestown, will be on hand with adoptable dogs to be blessed and to meet pet-lovers.

The event will include a brief pet-friendly worship service and blessings for each individual pet.
