Obituary: Dorothy Sayre Cook

Lifelong area resident, church deacon passed away last week

On Sept. 21, 2018, age 91, of The Evergreens in Moorestown. Formerly a longtime resident of Haddonfield and Cherry Hill. Beloved aunt of Harry S. “Lee” (Elizabeth “Betty”) Cook, III of Connecticut and cherished great aunt of Christopher W. (Jennifer Reigle) Cook.

Dorothy had been employed by Provident Mutual Life insurance in Philadelphia for many years. She was a 1948 graduate of Wilson College and was a 50-year honorary member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She had been a long-time active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haddonfield where she served in many capacities including deacon, and was one of the first women to serve as Trustee.

Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 29th, from 10–10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 29 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ. Her Service will follow at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorothy’s honor may be made to the church at the above address.
