Mantua Police seeking answers regarding a shooting incident

The following comes from the Mantua Township Police Department.

On Sept. 26 at 4:16 pm, Mantua Township and Harrison Township officers responded to the area of Bismarck Avenue by Madison Road for a report of gun shots.

Even though there was no reason to believe Centre City School was a target, they were contacted immediately and advised to start Lock Down procedures as an over abundance of precaution. Several officers responded to the school to provide additional security while others handled the primary investigation.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspect fire a handgun toward a silver or gray sedan on Madison Road, which fled the area. The suspect then got into a dark colored vehicle and fled the area.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
