Evesham Police find allegedly stolen bike and crossbow when alleged thief hit by car

Police say the vehicle had the right of way and police are trying to find the owners of the allegedly stolen items.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Sept. 25, officers with the Evesham Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 70 and Route 73 for a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle.

Investigation determined that the bicyclist was allegedly at fault and the vehicle had the right of way.

According to police, while medical personnel were treating the male bicyclist, officers determined that he had allegedly stolen the bike and was riding to his home in Camden City when the vehicle struck him.

The male was also found to be in possession of a crossbow, which police say could allegedly be as a result of a possible burglary/theft.

Police are attempting to identify the owner of the bike and crossbow.

Should members of the public recognize either, they are asked to contact the Evesham Township Police Department at (856) 983–1116, the Confidential Tip Line at (856) 983–4699 or email at Facebook@Eveshampd.org. Anonymous tips can text ETPDTIP to 847411.

Police have also arrested the male bicyclist, age 22 of Camden, and charged him with third-degree possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. He was released on his own recognizance.
