General meeting scheduled for tonight to feature presentation by authors Dubin, Biddle

The Historical Society of Haddonfield will hold its general membership meeting tonight, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Mabel Kay House, 24 Walnut St.

It will feature a talk given by authors Daniel Biddle and Murray Dubin about Octavius Catto, an important educator, athlete, and equal rights leader in the years before, during and after the Civil War.

Catto, who was Charleston-born but educated and raised in Philadelphia, was killed in 1871 during election-related violence.
