The expo sets the stage for the township to begin observing the fall season with harvests, festivals, haunted houses and more!

Senior citizens, caretakers, children and anyone else interested in learning about resources for the elderly are welcome to join Total Turf in Pitman for its Fall Senior Expo on Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Organizers say the event will feature live music from WVLT Cruisin’ 92.1’s midday host Lou Costello and musician Carl Filbert, door prizes, food vendors (cash required) and flu shots for seniors ahead of the upcoming season.
“We’re going to have an excess of 40 vendors related to senior services, such as health and welfare, financial assistance, etc.,” said Bob Dalessandro. “It’s about resources for better living for seniors. There’s going to be demonstrations of the new indoor golf instruction (at Total Turf), pickleball demos and tournament and some square dancing.”
Dalessandro said the expo will have an antique appraisal fair, called “What’s It Worth,” which is new this year.
“We’ll have an appraiser that will be able to appraise all sorts of treasures that people bring in for a nominal fee,” said Dalessandro. “No restrictions on the items that people can bring: family heirlooms, estate sales — things like that.”
Visitors will have a chance to donate proceeds to the South Jersey Veterans Resource Center at Camp Salute through various door prizes, raffles and the appraisal fair.
“We wanted to showcase the indoor physical activities that are open to the public at Total Turf such as the golfing, putting instructions and games,” said Dalessandro. “Hopefully we’ll have some seniors sign up and want to play in the tournaments.”
Admission and parking are free for the Senior Expo show. If you cannot make it to the expo, other fall events are occurring throughout the area.
On Sept. 29, Glassboro’s Craft Beer Festival is back with more than 20 breweries, 100 different beers and nearly 20 vendors in Town Square. The festival starts at noon and ends with the final call for beers at 4:45 p.m. Government ID is required to get in. Tickets are available at www.GlassboroBeerFest.com.
In Mullica Hill, visit Creamy Acres throughout October (excluding Sundays) to go pumpkin picking, hop on hayrides and drift around during the Pedal Karts events. Admission is required. Mantua Township will host Bark in the Park at Chestnut Branch Park on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will allow for owners to bring their dogs into the park, enjoy hoagies (for owners) and see a K-9 demonstration by the police department.
Mantua Township is also hosting a Night at the Museum on Oct. 11 from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. with Rowan University professor Dr. Kenneth Lacovara showcasing the prehistoric period of the township. The event is at the township’s historical commission at 145 Mantua Blvd. Seating is limited. More information can be found on the commission’s Facebook Page.
Tour the township’s six cemeteries with the historical commission and learn about some of the past prominent residents on Oct. 27 at 145 Mantua Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend. Call (856) 464–2280 to RSVP.
Trunk or treat is back at the United Methodist Church in Mantua. Bring your candy buckets and collect goodies from cars from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the church’s parking lot on Oct. 27. Stay at the free event for food, games and music. A donation of a non-perishable food item is requested to benefit the Corinthian Cupboard. Search FamilyFun Mantua on Facebook for more information.
On Halloween, walk through neighborhoods and experience the extravagant decorations, haunted houses and collect sweet treats throughout the township from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Adult supervision is required for kids under the age of 18. Curfews to be announced as the date near.
The Church of Incarnation is hosting its Festi-Fall Craft and Vendor show on Nov. 3 starting at 10 a.m. at the church featuring more than 60 crafters and vendors, basket raffles, food and drinks. More information can be found on www.incarnation-church.org.
