Gloucester County to host the Amputee Veteran’s Next Step Golf Clinic

The following comes from the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Gloucester County will host the Amputee Veteran’s Next Step Golf Clinic featuring 36 golfers, of which half will be Amputee Veterans, on Sept. 20. The Pitman Golf Course was selected to host this event by the Philadelphia V.A. Medical Center and V.A. Healthcare-VISN 4. This will be the eighth year the county has hosted the Amputee Veteran’s Next Step Golf Clinic.

The clinic is a nine-hole golf scramble format comprised of nine teams, each made up of two amputee Veterans, one golf teaching professional, and one special guest. They will spend the morning out on the course learning all about the game, and receiving tips and hands-on assistance from the pros. The goal of the Next Step is to give the Veterans the tools they need to be able to play a game of golf on their own and continue on the path of rehabilitation and recovery.

Players will begin to arrive around 8 a.m. and there will be a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. before the 9 a.m. shotgun start. The golfers will finish around 11:30 a.m. and they will have lunch inside Bogeys Restaurant.

The golf course is located at 501 Pitman Road in Sewell.
