Haddonfield resident and radiologist at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital adds to list of honors
Haddonfield resident Kathleen V. Greatrex, MD, radiologist and chief of breast imaging at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, was recently elected to serve as treasurer of the executive committee for the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.
Dr. Greatrex had originally been appointed a member of the state board by former Gov. Chris Christie in July, 2017.
The State Board of Medical Examiners protects the public’s health, safety, and welfare. The board itself licenses medical professionals, adopts regulations, determines standards of practice, investigates allegations of physician misconduct, and disciplines those who do not adhere to requirements — thereby assuring the public that the physicians are qualified, competent, and honest. It is also responsible for the oversight of a number of allied health providers.
In addition to serving as Lourdes’ chief of breast imaging, Dr. Greatrex was also the past chair of the department of radiology and nuclear medicine at Lourdes. She holds the distinction of being the first female president of the medical staff in the 60-year history of the medical center.
She has additionally served as a board member of the Lourdes Health Foundation, and in 2013 was appointed to the board of trustees for the Lourdes Health System. Outside of Lourdes, Dr. Greatrex serves on the board of trustees for Immaculata University.
A devotee to educating women about breast cancer, Dr. Greatrex received special congressional recognition from Congressman Robert Andrews and a joint legislative commendation from the state of New Jersey for fighting breast cancer and educating her patients and the community about this disease.
