Medford Leas September forum features two authors

Maya K. Van Rossum and Cathy Bao Bean will be discussing their books.

The September Leas Forum lineup at Medford Leas features conversations with two intriguing authors. Maya K. Van Rossum, author of “The Green Amendment” and Cathy Bao Bean, author of “The Chopsticks-Fork Principle: A Memoir and Manual” will discuss their books and the interesting topics they cover.

“The Green Amendment” stresses the fact that we all have a right to pure water, clean air and a healthy environment. Medford Leas invites guests to participate in a conversation with Maya K. Van Rossum about how groups of citizens are advocating for legislative changes to protect the environment. She is a leader with the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and an attorney who has served as director of the Environmental Law Clinic at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

From a place of delight and good humor, “The Chopsticks-Fork Principle: A Memoir and Manual” encourages people to realize and understand (and laugh about) how we are all bicultural, in a way that shatters stereotypes. Medford Leas encourages interested guests to attend and learn about this interesting principle from the author herself.

Cathy Bao Bean is a daughter, mother, wife, author, immigrant and scholar. Alumna and former board member of the Claremont Graduate University School of the Arts and Humanities, she has presented her ideas to audiences at universities, libraries, prisons and professional associations in the United States and China.

“The Green Amendment” conversation will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8 and “The Chopsticks-Fork Principle: A Memoir and Manual” discussion will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22. Both events will be held in the Medford Campus Theater at One Medford Leas Way in Medford and will run from 11 a.m. to noon. These events are free and do not require registration.
