Help Women and Children Now is hosting Kidzfest at Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill

Help Women and Children Now, a nonprofit organization based in Haddonfield, is hosting a family festival Sunday, Sept. 9, to raise money towards helping hospitals improve their equipment when dealing with premature birth.

Kidzfest will consist of activities and games and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Challenge Grove Park in Cherry Hill.

In September 2003, Lisa and Steve Hurly gave birth to three-pound Stephen Michael Hurly, seven weeks premature. Following his birth, Stephen was admitted to a cardiac intensive care unit and then to the neonatal intensive care unit. While the Hurly family lost their precious Stephen, their love for him is unwavering.

With the desire to honor their son’s life, Lisa and Steve orchestrated Kidzfest presented by Help Women and Children Now. Kidzfest is a day of fun for kids that benefits kids. Kidzfest was designed to spread awareness of premature birth and heart disease as well as raise money towards further research. Lisa and Steve decided to place their work in the next generation when their eldest son, John, reached high school and wanted to become more involved. Last year, a board of high school students joined Help Women and Children Now and decided to make their mission about raising money for incubators to be given to hospitals and continue to raise awareness. There are hospitals that are unable to have incubators and the organization’s mission is to make that technology more accessible.
