Both drivers were found with concealed bags of heroin
The following is on file with the Berlin Police Department:
A motor vehicle stop was conducted Aug. 21 in the area of the Golden Nugget Tavern in which, during the stop, the driver attempted to exit the vehicle and hide inside the bar.
Once detained, Berlin Police Department K-9 Radko was deployed and alerted to narcotics odor in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in approximately 25 bags of heroin being concealed. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.
Another motor vehicle stop was conducted on Aug. 24 along Route 73 in the area of Prospect Ave. As a result of the stop, the driver was detained under the suspicion of narcotics being inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted which produced approximately 65 bags of heroin and a quantity of marijuana. Also located was packaging materials and a digital scale. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.
Both individuals have pending court dates in Camden County Superior Court and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
