Monroe Township Police, Fire, EMS respond to fatal car crash

Information from Monroe Township Police Department’s Facebook page

On Aug. 23 around 10:15 p.m., 911 calls were being taken for a report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapped occupants and vehicle fire.

Patrol units responded to scene, which was reported on Coles Mill Rd. near the Hospitality Creek Campground and found a 2015 Honda CRV overturned and off the roadway. Dispatched also were the Cecil Fire Company, Williamstown Fire Company, Monroe Township EMS and Paramedics from Inspira. Additionally, BLS from Collings Lakes Fire Company and Virtua Paramedics were added to the call.

Fire personnel arrived and confirmed that there was no vehicle fire and that the driver was entrapped in the vehicle. Shortly thereafter it was learned that the driver, 54-year-old Brigid Bartley, from Hammonton, was deceased in the car. Crews worked to extricate the driver while police conducted the crash investigation.

It was learned that the Honda was traveling east on Coles Mill Rd. near the intersection with the Old Black Horse Pike and approaching a sharp bend in the road. The vehicle’s right side tires left the road surface causing the vehicle to go off road where it struck a utility pole guy wire, and several trees. The white Honda then flipped over and stopped approximately 120-feet after it left the road.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Michael Gabbianelli of the MTPD Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone with information can call (856) 728–9800 ext. 566 or email [email protected]
