Mayor’s Message: National Night Out, Shop Washington Township, and tour of Woodmont Properties

The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli

Special to The Sun: Residents of Washington Township line up to grab a hamburger or hotdog from the police officers manning the grill at the National Night Out celebration at Washington Lake Park on August 7.

National Night Out

I am happy to report that this year’s National Night Out event was a success. There was much fun to be had at this event which was hosted by the Washington Township Police Department and sponsored by Acura in Turnersville. This event is a way for residents to get to know our police officers on a more personal level and to thank them for keeping our community safe. There were bouncy houses for the kids, vendors, music, K-9 demonstrations, and food, which was grilled by the officers. Council President Joe Perry also took a turn on the grill to help the officers out. I would like to thank Acura of Turnersville for sponsoring this fantastic community event for the residents of Washington Township. I would also like to thank Chief Gurcsik and the rest of the Police Department for hosting and giving their free time to be a part of this event.

Shop Washington Township tax rebate

I am pleased to announce that a total amount of $8,400 was reimbursed to Washington Township residents towards their property taxes. This amount is from January 2018 until July 2018. It seems that a large amount of residents are taking advantage of this mutually beneficial program and I am very happy to hear it. I would like to thank the participating businesses of the Shop Washington Township Program and the residents of Washington Township for participating in this Program. If you would like a Shop Washington Township card, you can pick one up at the Municipal Building at 523 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. Cards are available in every department of the Municipal Building. You need to register your card before you are able to shop at the participating businesses. Tour of Woodmont Properties

I recently took a tour with representative, Myranda Haines from Woodmont Properties. I was taken through the apartments at Washington Square on Hurffville Cross-Keys Road. Myranda shared that there are 260 apartments available and they are open and ready for renting. The tour included technological amenities which come with the apartment, including mail pick up, electronic keyless entry, guest announcement intercom/entry control system, 24/7 Fitness studio with virtual classes on demand and more. I would like to thank Myranda Haines for taking the time to show me around the property. If you are interested in renting one of the apartments in Washington Square, you can visit their website at https://www.woodmonttownsquare.com/.
