Cherry Hill Township officials ask residents to not place plastic bags in recycling bins

Township officials released a reminder online to residents about recycling regulations in the township.

Cherry Hill Township is reminding residents to not place plastic bags in recycling bins. A reminder was released online to residents late last week.

The township states in a release that plastic bags require a different collection system and processing equipment than the township provides. Bags can get tangled in the processing equipment and can shut down the recycling facility.

Residents are asked to recycling plastic bags at their local stores or to bring them separately to the department of public works, the municipal building or the Cherry Hill Public Library for recycling.

Plastic bags that should not be placed into recycling bins include garbage bags, retail store bags, dry cleaning bags, food storage bags and newspaper delivery bags.

For more information, visit www.CherryHill-NJ.com or call public works at (856) 424–4422.
