Busy Month of June

I was fortunate to be a part of many community events throughout the month of June. On June 14, I was honored to join the Bells Elementary staff and students as they showed their respect to our Nation’s flag by conducting a Flag Day Ceremony. I would like to thank Councilwoman Angela Donato who helped to organize this event and the Bells Elementary Administration, students, and staff for including me.

Special to The Sun: Council Vice President Sean Longfellow, Mayor Joann Gattinelli and Councilwoman Angela Donato at Washington Township High School Graduation.

I was pleased to attend the 2018 Commencement Ceremonies on June 19. I would like to acknowledge all of the 2018 Washington Township High School Graduates. It was through their hard work and dedication that led them to this momentous achievement in their lives. I wish them all the best of luck and much success in all of their future endeavors.

I am happy to announce two new businesses have opened in Washington Township: Orange Theory Fitness and Kadar Orthodontics. On June 14, I was pleased to be a part of Kadar Orthodontics “Wire Cutting” ceremony for their new location at 431 Egg Harbor Road. On June 21, I was also happy to welcome Orange Theory Fitness to Washington Township. Their store location is at 382 Egg Harbor Road. I would like to wish Kadar Orthodontics and Orange Theory Fitness much success here in Washington Township.

Special to The Sun: Mayor Joann Gattinelli with the owners of Orange Theory Fitness.

Our Annual Wine Festival was another great success this year. I was happy to see all of the happy faces, enjoying the wine as well as the company at this large community event. I would like to thank all who helped make this event a great success. Thank you to all who stopped by Washington Lake Park during this weekend event.

At the June 27 Council meeting, I was happy to recognize a creative and talented group of Washington Township High School students who were involved with a school project called “ESL Shark Tank Competition.” These students had to develop a business plan to bring to Washington Township. ESL teacher, Laurine Sibilia was also acknowledged for choosing to make learning fun by creating this inventive project for her students to complete. Thank you Ms. Sibilia for thinking outside the box. I could tell the students truly enjoyed working on their concepts.

Fourth of July

I am ecstatic to announce that once again, our Annual Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks Spectacular was a huge success! I was pleased to see all of the happy, smiling faces of the families in attendance. I hope all enjoyed seeing our Grand Marshal Charlie Chiango, Little Miss and Mister winners and our Teachers of the Year. I would to thank all of the elected officials in attendance, including Council President Joe Perry and Councilwoman Angela Donato who joined me in handing out candy during the parade. I am grateful to hear all of the positive feedback from the residents and visitors of our town. I am pleased that so many individuals and families enjoyed themselves and had a great time watching the Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks. I look forward to next year’s celebration of our great Nation’s independence. God Bless America!
