Shawnee High School takes on National Leadership Conference

Shawnee High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America members took part in the 2018 National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga. from June 28 through July 2. During the competitive events sessions the following members earned medals:
Emma Adams (gold), Jordan Benstead (gold), Morgan Broderick (gold), Sarah Drexel (gold), Meghan Harms (gold), Claire Hauser (silver), Alexa McClane (gold), Grace McKinley (gold), Paige Trzaskawka (gold) and Carrington Windl (gold).
Volunteer Center of Burlington County provides 22nd year of volunteer opportunities
The Volunteer Center of Burlington County is taking on its 22nd year of providing county residents with opportunities to give back to the community.
The nonprofit organization started in July 1996, with the goal of putting all local volunteer opportunities in one place and allowing easier access to various types of community events to lend a hand in — whether it be once a year or once a week.

Council discusses Medford Arts Center move and police department regulation updates
At Tuesday night’s meeting, the council discussed the move of the Medford Arts Center from 18 N. Main St.to 8 N. Main St. The group has already made settlement on this new location, and plans to have an open house Sept. 14–16.
The township previously agreed to pay for the group’s water, sewage, snow removal and grounds maintenance while leasing the building at 18 N. Main St.
The Medford Arts Center has requested once again to have the township pay for these expenses at its new location. However, since the building has been purchased and not leased, the council decided to only cover water and sewage payments.
Following the discussion on the Medford Arts Center, Chief of Police Richard J. Meder stated he would like to update rules and regulations of the police department, including hearings and the disciplinary process through one centralized document, instead of coming out of an ordinance.
