National Weather Service issues ‘excessive heat warning’

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly issued an “Excessive Heat Warning,” which will take effect from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday.

Temperatures are estimated to range between 100–105 degrees on Sunday and 103–107 on Monday.

In a release issued by the NWS, the service states, “Looking ahead, heat index values will likely exceed 100 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday.”

The highest heat index values are expected to occur from the late morning into the early evening.
