The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of July. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call (856) 415–2222 or [email protected] to register. You must be 18 years or older to attend.
“Safety Awareness and Self-Defense” — Officer Justin Walker, of the Washington Township Police Department, knows that self-defense helps prepare you for unexpected situations, while increasing mental and physical health. In this workshop, he will discuss risk avoidance, mental and physical preparedness, pre-assault indicators and threat assessment, as well as the basic principles of self-defense. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Monday, July 9, from 6 to 9 p.m.
“Internet Safety: Protecting Yourself Online” — Join Amy Charlesworth, Case Manager Assistant for People in Transition, to learn useful tips for keeping yourself and your family safe while browsing the internet. Tips will include: avoiding computer viruses, evading scams, safe shopping and the importance of passwords to protect yourself. She will also provide you with some helpful tips for monitoring your children’s computer use. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Thursday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Rowan College at Gloucester County’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 off of Route 55.
